  • 1936

    With just a dozen pieces of equipment at their disposal, Fournier et Frères officially goes into business

  • 1970 to 1972

    Fournier et Frères becomes L. Fournier & Fils. The name change makes it official: Two generations are now working together in the excavation, road construction, crushing and civil engineering sectors, as well as other related fields

  • 1979

    A decisive year in terms of diversification of our business activities. This period also marks the inauguration of our first factory producing premixed concrete.

  • 1993

    Launch of the bagged concrete and shotcrete division.

  • 1994

    Construction of our second premixed concrete factory. The same year, the company was saddened by the loss of Mr. Léo Fournier, the proud founder of Fournier et Frères

  • 1998

    Start of transport of bulk cement, and opening of the transfer station in Mont-Laurier, Quebec, to ensure regular supply and provide services to the region’s mining companies

  • 2007

    Implementation of a quality-management system to continuously improve customer satisfaction and provide compliant products and services. This initiative leads to obtaining ISO-9001 certification.

  • 2009

    The company achieves Qualibéton certification, attesting that our concrete meets the requirements of Canadian law and standards and that it corresponds to the quality-assurance standards of the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ).

  • 2012

    Beginning of our first partnership with a Cree enterprise from the community of Mistissini, Quebec, which leads to the opening of the Swallow-Fournier division. This partnership marks a new chapter in our commitment to local economic development.

  • 2015

    Acquisition of the Sigma mine in partnership with the mining company Integra Gold.

  • 2019

    Recipient of the Mercure award for “Contribution to economic and regional development” from the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec. A significant recognition on the part of the business community.

  • 2022

    Our business earns a Canada’s Best Managed Companies title. It’s a first for a company from the region. This seal of excellence reflects the high quality of our strategic planning, our adaptability and our dedication to the community.
